Moving Made Easy
Moving into a new home is an exciting time, but it can also be extremely overwhelming. Survey results prove that 44 percent of respondents say they would rather go a week without Internet than move. Lower your stress level by following these moving tips to make your moving process easier and even enjoyable. So how do you make it easier?
Stay Organized while Packing As soon as you have found your new home, the task of packing looms ahead. Streamline the packing process by staying organized. Avoid throwing things into boxes. Instead, clearly label each box for the corresponding room in your new home, such as "Master Bedroom" or "Basement". If it is a local move and you have time to spread it out, then consider planning on getting the smaller things moved first and then call in the reserves to help with the heavy lifting. The other idea is for you to move one room at a time. Either way it is a good idea to number your boxes to ensure that everything arrives at your new home.
Moving Day To lower the stress of your move, consider spending some money to hire movers. It is always smart to get quotes from several different companies. Moving on a weekday is best if you are on a budget, because moving companies typically offer a lower per mile rate. If you do not have the money to hire movers, do not be afraid to ask friends and family to help. Remember, the more people helping you, the less stressful it will be. It is always wise to make it less stressfull and more of a celebration than real work.
After the Move Make a list of companies that will need to be notified of your move. Do not forget to change your billing address, magazine subscriptions and file a change of address with the post office one week before you move. It is also a nice touch to send a change of address card to your friends and family.
